Five Arrested in Connection with Ober Kampala Murder

IRA CITY - The territorial police in Lira City West Division are investigating the suspected murder of a 44-year-old Bonny Ogwal, a self-employed resident of Ober Kampala in Ojwina Ward.

The shockingly mysterious incident happened on December 4, 2024, leaving the public puzzled with several questions.

According to a report filed by Fred Ojwang, a 46-year-old resident of Obutowelo ‘B’ Cell, Ogwal (deceased) returned home on the evening of December 4, heavily intoxicated and went to sleep in his house.

However, in the morning of December 5, 2024, neighbours noticed his door was open and upon checking inside, his lifeless body was lying in a pool of blood. A large stone, stained with blood, was found beside him, suggesting foul play.

It is upon this fateful incident that the local council authority were immediately informed. A murder case was later reported to the police at Lira City West Division.

A team of officers from Lira City West Division Police Station, led by the Division CID Officer, with support from canine units attached to North Kyoga Regional Headquarters, responded to the scene.

Police cordoned off the area, took photographs and documented crucial evidence.

The canine unit tracked down the suspects, leading to the arrest of five individuals.

Police Spokesperson for North Kyoga Region, SP Patrick Jimmy Okema has identified the suspects under police custody as Innocent Okeny, 41, Jacinta Akite, 42, William Otuke, Joshua William, 25, Ivan Okello Ivan, 21, and Emmanuel Ogwal, 18.

In a police statement, SP Okema urged public members with information regarding this incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
