Man Stabbed by Wife Over Missing Boxer in Jinja—Police Refutes Mutilation Claims

JINJA – Police in Kiira Region have dismissed widespread social media claims alleging that a woman cut off her husband's private parts in Nawampanda Parish, Butagaya Sub County, Jinja District.

According to police spokesperson SP James Mubi, the reports making rounds online are “misleading, unverified, and should be ignored.” He clarified that while an incident of domestic violence did occur, the claims of genital mutilation are entirely false.

On Monday, March 10, 31-year-old Nicholas Dhabuliwo, a traditional herbalist, returned home intoxicated and began verbally abusing his wife, Fatuma Naigaga, 23. His anger was reportedly triggered by a demand for his three old boxers, which he insisted on wearing for what he claimed were spiritual reasons linked to prosperity in Busoga Sub-Region.

Naigaga complied and handed over the three old garments, but Dhabuliwo continued demanding another that she could not find. This led to a violent altercation in which Dhabuliwo assaulted his wife. In an act of self-defense, Naigaga allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed him three times in the chest and once in the left arm.

Dhabuliwo was immediately rushed to a nearby health facility for treatment. A medical report confirmed that he sustained minor injuries and is currently recovering at home.

Contrary to social media reports, Dhabuliwo’s private parts remain intact. "The man's private parts are very safe," SP Mubi emphasized, urging the public to refrain from spreading falsehoods that could incite panic and unnecessary debate.

Naigaga is currently in police custody at Buwenge Central Police Station (CPS), assisting authorities with investigations. Meanwhile, the Child and Family Protection Unit at CPS Buwenge is offering counseling services to the couple to restore peace and stability in their home.

Police have also revealed plans to engage traditional herbalists in Jinja on proper ways to conduct their practices without compromising public safety. This follows Dhabuliwo’s claims that his late father’s spirit instructed him to wear the five-year-old boxers to enhance his fortune.

SP Mubi further cautioned the public against misinformation and unethical reporting. He urged citizen journalists and media users to uphold journalistic principles of accuracy, verification, and fairness.

“We should avoid spreading false information that weakens the country’s economy, politics, hospitality, and security,” he noted.

The police remain committed to ensuring peace, stability, and the socio-economic transformation of the country.
