Lango Cultural Foundation Begins 2024 Constitution Review Process

Lira- The newly established Constitutional Review Committee for Lango Cultural Foundation has started the process of reviewing the 2024 Constitution.
Spearheaded by the former Lira Grade one Magistrate, His Worship Simon Peter Odoo, the 13 member Committee started its work on Easter Monday. The meeting was held at Lango Cultural Center in Lira City East Division.
While presiding over the meeting held on 1st April, 2024, Simon Peter Odoo said that the meeting seeks to draw a harmonious Constitution which will work as a guiding tool for the Lango tribe.
“We want a Constitution that will work as a unifying factor and bring together both the people of Lango living in Uganda and in the Diaspora”, said Odoo.
He equally stated that reviewing the Lango Constitution is a sacrifice that needs devotion and support from the people of Lango.
The Speaker of Lango Cultural Foundation (Won Tok), Willy Omodo Omodo is optimistic that the work of reviewing the Constitution of Lango will take about two months, there by calling for support and patience among the people of Lango.
This he says will ensure the production of the Lango Constitution that will work for everyone without the aspect of segregation.
According to Omodo Omodo, the Constitutional Review Committee is set to bring together all the Constitutions of Lango that were amended under the stewardship of Daniel Omara Atubo, the head clan of Otengoro Olang.
Among the Constitutions to be analyzed in order to draw and amend a new Constitution include the 2001, 2003, 2013, 2016, 2017 and 2023 Constitution.
