MP Aguti Urges Parents to Prioritize Education in Dokolo

Sarah Aguti Nyangkori, Woman MP for Dokolo District, has called on parents to prioritize their children’s education to help eliminate ignorance, insecurity, and poverty in the community.
She made the remarks during a road commissioning event held at Te-ilwa Village in Bata Sub-county.
Hon. Aguti emphasized that education is the only weapon that can empower future generations and bring sustainable development. She also urged parents to avoid gender-based violence, excessive alcohol consumption, and family neglect, which all negatively impact children’s growth.
She appealed to youth to stay away from harmful substances, theft, and criminal activities that could ruin their lives and futures.
RDC Babra Akech echoed her concerns, warning that parents found engaging their children in domestic chores or farm work during school hours would face legal consequences. She said such actions hinder education and put children’s futures at risk.
Vice Chairperson LCV Tonny Odongo Ocen condemned the ongoing denial of education rights by some parents. He encouraged local leaders to mobilize and sensitize communities to ensure every child is in school.
