The commanding police in Amolatar District have intensified their search for Loy alias Margaret aged 20 yrs old on allegations of killing her husband.
The search stems from a report registered to the police by Luka Opio, 34 years who hails from Acilidwe village, Bangaladesh Parish, Namasale Sub-County, in Amolatar District.
North Kyoga Police mouthpiece SP.Patrick Jimmy Okema has now identified the deceased as Patrick Ojok, 24 years. Ojok was a fisher man residing at Acilidwe village, Bangaladesh Parish, Namasale Sub-County, in Amolatar District. He was stabbed by his wife with a blunt object.
Preliminary findings allege that on 24th April, 2024 at around 0100hours, Okello Richard, a neighbor to the deceased, heard when Ojok was quarreling with his wife Loy over a bed sheet. However, at around 0200hours, Okello found the deceased on his door with heavy bleeding.
Police report further reveals that In the morning at around 0600hours, Okello went to check on how the deceased's condition at 0600hours only found him helpless and informed the landlord who reported the incident to police.
SP. Okema confirmed that the scene of crime was visited and documented by the District CID officer and team who also recorded witnesses to aid further investigation.
Ojok’s lifeless body is conveyed at Amolator Health Centre IV pending postmortem examination while the suspect is still at large.
In his conclusion, Okema pledged the force’s full commitment to investigate the matter and have the suspect produced before court.
Speaking to Qfm news desk, the Resident District Commissioner of Amolatar, Francis Okello Rwotlonyo confirmed the sad incident. He however decried the rampant cases of murder cases as a result of domestic violence in the Lango sub region.
“It is so unfortunate that North Kyoga is ever recording cases of murder in the region; however, Amolatar has not witnessed such cases in a while”, said Okello Rwotlonyo.
With the rising cases of murder in the region, Francis Rwotlonyo now calls upon different stakeholders, religious leaders, and cultural leaders among others to engage community members in community dialogues, a strategy he says can help mitigate such cases.
