Dokolo District Local Government has received a 288 million shilling grant from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Animal Industry to enhance agricultural productivity through the Climate Smart Agriculture Transformation Project.
Dr. Richard Enyang, the District Production Officer, confirmed that the funds will support 15 farmers within the district. He stated that all registration and procurement processes for the project have already been completed.
Dr. Enyang also revealed that two contractors have been selected to install irrigation systems across several sub-counties, including Okwongodul, Dokolo Town Council, Adok, Kwera, Agwata Sub-county, and Agwata Town Council.
He urged farmers to act quickly and adopt micro-scale irrigation systems before the end of the 2024/2025 financial year to take full advantage of the available funding.
Dr. Enyang further highlighted that 13 micro-scale irrigation systems have already been installed in the first phase of the project, with all systems currently operating successfully. He noted that these systems are expected to significantly boost agricultural production in the district.
