President Museveni Donates UGX 10 Million to Support Funeral of Kumam Cultural Leader

President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has donated UGX 10 million to support the funeral arrangements of the late Derry Erupu, the Defense Minister of the Kumam Cultural Heritage and a prominent supporter of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in the Teso and Kumam regions.
While delivering the President’s condolence message, Capt. Dr. Mike Mukula, NRM Vice Chairperson for the Eastern Region, praised the late Erupu as a dedicated servant, model farmer, and successful entrepreneur who transformed many lives across the Teso and Kumam sub-regions.
He said President Museveni was deeply saddened by the loss of such a devoted supporter of the NRM and a change-maker in the community.
Dr. Mukula also acknowledged additional support from other leaders.
The Speaker of Parliament and Woman MP for Bukedea District, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, contributed UGX 5 million in condolence support to the bereaved family.
Members of Parliament from Kaberamaido, Kalaki, and Soroti City were also recognized for their solidarity and generosity, a gesture Dr. Mukula described as a demonstration of unity and compassion among leaders.
He further highlighted the late Erupu’s efforts in fighting poverty in Kalaki District through agricultural productivity and entrepreneurship.
Erupu was described as a transformative figure whose business acumen and community initiatives positively impacted countless lives.
