Dokolo Woman MP Elect to Swear in today
Sarah Nyangkori, a member of the Uganda People’s Congress-UPC was on March 21 declared winner of the Dokolo by elections after she garnered 23,044 votes against NRM’s Janet Rose Adongo Elau Okello who got 14,001 votes.

The Dokolo district Woman Member of Parliament elect, Hon. Sarah Aguti Nyangkori is set to be sworn in this afternoon, during the plenary session at Parliament.
Sarah Nyangkori, a member of the Uganda People’s Congress-UPC was on March 21 declared winner of the Dokolo by elections after she garnered 23,044 votes against NRM’s Janet Rose Adongo Elau Okello who got 14,001 votes.
The Returning Officer for Dokolo district, Stephen Erikwaine Ngobi according to Section 53 of the Parliamentary Elections Act, declared Sarah Aguti Nyangkori the newly elected Woman Member of Parliament for Dokolo district after securing a landslide victory in a by-election that attracted six candidates.
The candidates were Rosemary Austin Alwoc Ogwal from the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Janet Rose Adongo Elau Okello from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), Sarah Aguti Nyangkori from Uganda People’s Congress (UPC), and Harriet Ageno Nenidiro from the National Unity Platform (NUP).
The others were independent candidates; Esther Akullo Obot and Rebecca Arao.
She now replaces the former district woman MP the late Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal who died on 18th January, 2024 in an Indian hospital.
Speaking to the media at the UPC party headquarters today, Sharon Oyat Arach, the party spokesperson congratulated the legislator and voters in Dokolo district on this remarkable ceremony.
“We congratulate the people of Dokolo upon getting their leader and wish Hon. Aguti was a very successful swearing in ceremony at parliament and the best in her tenure of office”, Arach added.
