UTC-Lira Set to Host Talent Search

Lira – Uganda Technical College (UTC)-Lira is speeding up final preparations to the fifth edition of the Talent Search event set for Saturday November 16, 2024, with primary focus on empowering youths for a better tomorrow through talent search.
The revelation was made during a press briefing held at UTC on Tuesday.
Spearheaded by the 2024-2025 Guild Government of UTC-Lira, the event will run under the theme, “Empowering the Youth for a Better Tomorrow through Talent Search,” supplementing UNESCO’s theme, “Empowering Young People in Higher and Tertiary Institutions to Uphold Health Concerns.”
The Guild cabinet Speaker, Aaron Odong emphasized that the event is not discriminatory confirming full participation.
"The event is open to Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) and gender. Any student from the participating institutions will participate", he added.
Each of participating institutions will nominate two participants per category who will compete in the aspects of; news anchoring, modelling, debating, public speaking, poetry, eating competition among others.
The event is said to draw students from various institutions, including Lira University, Victoria School of Nursing, Uganda Christian Institute (UCI), King James School of Nursing, Good Samaritan School of Nursing and Jerusalem Institute of Health Sciences.
Others are; All Saints University Lango, Uganda Martyrs University Ngetta, National Instructors College Abilonino among others.
In his submission, Jackson Munguomiyo anticipates full participation of students between 2000 - 3000 with security provided by the local security provided by students with support from external security including Police.
Meanwhile Symeon Amanzu Erima responding eating competition says specific foods will be assembled for the competitors while observing health complications.
Her Excellency Jennifer Driciru, the first female Guild President of UTC -Lira noted that the event is limited to only students.
"We have narrowed this event to only students to avoid conflicts and insecurity issues that may arise due to outsiders", said Driciru.
The sponsorship towards the 5th Edition of the Talent Search include Qfm 94.3, City Sounds, and the Rotary Club.
