Lira City, Uganda – The much-anticipated USSSA Lango Zone tournament kicked off on Monday, April 7, 2025, with a thrilling start that left fans buzzing and players eager for more. The opening day featured a total of six games, split evenly between the girls' and boys' categories, showcasing the raw talent and competitive spirit of the region's youth.

In the girls' category, St. Mary Magdalene made headlines with a stunning 9-0 victory over Apac Seeds SS, demonstrating their dominance on the field. The match was marked by exceptional talent showcase, leaving spectators in awe. Meanwhile, Atapara SS secured a narrow 1-0 win against Okwang SS, while Akii Bua SS edged out Agwingiri with a close 1-0 finish, setting the stage for an exciting tournament ahead.

The boys' matches were equally riveting, albeit with a twist. Host team Dr. Obote College Boroboro faced an unexpected defeat at the hands of Wisdom High School, who made a dramatic entrance into the tournament at the 11th minute, taking the place of Alebtong Comprehensive SS, which failed to show up. Wisdom High School's 1-0 victory sent shockwaves through the crowd, as the underdogs proved their mettle.

In another exciting matchup, Otwal SS triumphed over Apac Seeds SS with a convincing 3-0 scoreline, while Dokolo Progressive SS secured a 3-1 victory against Amac Modern, showcasing the depth of talent present in this year's tournament.
