North Kyoga Police Releases Statement of Aggravated Robbery in Oyam District

 The territorial police in Oyam District are investigating shooting of 3 people and robbery of shillings 65,000. This sad incident happened on the Tuesday 26th December, 2023 at around 1950 hours from Berakite cell in Loro Town Council, Oyam District.

This follows a report registered by Robert Obote a business man and a resident of the same place.

According to North Kyoga Police Spox, SP. Jimmy Patrick Okema, it is alleged that on Tuesday 26th December, 2023 at around 1950 hours,a man dressed in a green military attire entered a hardware shop of Mr Obote Robert located in Berakite cell in Loro Town Council, Oyam District and pulled a gun and a black polythene bag ordering the shop attendant Morris Obongo to put money in that bag. However in fear, Obongo managed to run into another room to inform his father.

“This prompted the assailant to start shooting in the air as he escaped, later as he approached the maize mills for Ricky Okullo where he shot at and injured 3 people”, said Okema.

SP.Okema identified the injured as Isaac Kizito Okola,19 yrs old a resident of Olangit "A" village in Ogwete Sub-County in Otuke District, Innocent Obwol ,25 yrs old a boda-bada rider within Loro Town Council and RA 278021 PTE Emmanuel Okello, 25 yrs old a UPDF officer and a resident of Loro Town Council who were passing by. He also confirmed that a case has been reported at Loro police station.

 “Scene of crime was visited by a team of police officers led by the District Police Commander, Oyam, victims rushed to Atapara hospital for medical attention, four cartridges and one live ammunition were recovered from the crime scene”, Okema added.

In conclusion, Okema said efforts to have the assailant arrested are ongoing by a joint team of security forces.
