Dr. Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal has officially announced that she will not contest for the Dokolo Woman MP seat in the 2026 general elections. The daughter of the late Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal, a revered political figure and longtime MP, made the announcement from the United Kingdom through her social media platform.

Though she had previously shown interest in succeeding her mother, Dr. Alwoc stated that she would instead focus on continuing community service.

She highlighted her contributions to the district supporting orphans, churches, and scholarships for students, food relief to flood victims, and advocacy for the return of Uganda's cultural artifacts from the UK.

Following her decision, the FDC office in Dokolo, which she managed, will officially close. Julius Peter Okello Awany, the district FDC chairperson, confirmed the closure but insisted the party remains active despite logistical challenges.

The exit of Dr. Alwoc opens the political field to new contenders, including Sarah Aguti Nyangkori (UPC), Janet Rose Adong Elau (NRM), and others.

Her departure also marks the symbolic end of an era shaped by the legacy of her late mother, known for her transparency, human rights advocacy, and grassroots leadership.
