In a thrilling encounter at the USSSA National Championship currently underway in Ngora District, Mentor Secondary School edged past St. Kagwa Bushenyi with a narrow 1-0 victory. The decisive moment came courtesy of Gabriel Oyuru, whose solitary goal secured Mentor's place in the coveted last 16 stage of the tournament.

The victory underscores the strength of USSSA Lango Zone's representation in the boys' category, with two schools advancing to the knockout rounds — Mentor Secondary School and Wisdom High School. Unfortunately, Lira Town College fell short, unable to progress beyond the group stages.

Meanwhile, the girls' competition, hosted in Bukedea District, saw tough battles but heartbreak for St. Mary Magdalene Girls' Secondary School and Acaba Secondary School, both of whom failed to advance to the knockout rounds.

Looking ahead, the spotlight shifts to a Northern Uganda derby as Wisdom High School prepares to face Lagwayi Seed Secondary School from Pader District.
