From Holy Water to Harvests: Jane Frances Acilo Inspires Lango Pilgrims with Faith and Farming

Matuuga, May 29, 2025 — In a heartfelt show of solidarity and faith, Jane Frances Acilo, a formidable aspirant for the Oyam district Woman Member of Parliament seat in the 2026 elections, engaged with thousands of pilgrims across the Lango subregion on Thursday. The event, marked by spiritual fervor and communal support, took place at St. Francis Catholic Parish and St. Peters Anglican Church in Matuuga.

Acilo’s presence was more than a political gesture; it symbolized “love, trust, and being close to those seeking spiritual healing and undertaking the walk of faith,” she explained during her interactions. Raised in a deeply religious family, Jane shared her personal connection to the pilgrim community, emphasizing the importance of faith in her life and leadership journey.

At St. Francis Catholic Parish, Jane’s support was tangible — she contributed worth UGX 6 million to aid the priests, sisters, and pilgrims. Her branded mineral water became a symbol of blessing and strength among the faithful, with many expressing that it felt like “holy water has come” to invigorate their spiritual energy.

Following the Catholic gathering, Acilo proceeded to St. Peters Anglican Church in Lwadda, where she met with Anglican pilgrims from across Lango. She encouraged all attendees to remain steadfast in their faith as they prepare for the upcoming pilgrimage to the Namugongo Martyrs Shrines on June 3, 2025. Jane pledged her continued support and promised to accompany the pilgrims on this significant spiritual journey.

Beyond spiritual encouragement, Jane Frances Acilo used the occasion to advocate for economic empowerment through commercial agriculture. “Embracing commercial agriculture is the only way to fight poverty in Lango,” she told the pilgrims, urging them to adopt innovative farming practices that could transform their livelihoods.

The day's events showcased Jane’s blend of spiritual commitment and pragmatic vision for the future of Oyam district and the wider Lango community. As the 2026 elections approach, her campaign is gaining momentum not only through political rallies but also by nurturing the faith and welfare of her constituents.
