The leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, has called upon opposition in Parliament to prioritize the protection of human rights.
During a press conference held on Monday in Kampala, Kyagulanyi addressed the challenges faced by the opposition in 2023 and outlined their goals for the new year.
In his address, Kyagulanyi congratulated and called upon Joel Ssenyonyi (LoP) and other newly appointed leaders to utilize their positions for the betterment of all Ugandans.
Reflecting on the challenges faced by the opposition in 2023, Kyagulanyi highlighted the soaring public debt and the prevalence of corruption, including the alleged theft of relief items by regime officials.
Despite these obstacles, he emphasised the party's determination to continue fighting for a new Uganda and encouraged party leaders to work towards greater success in the new year.
As the new year unfolds, Kyagulanyi urges the opposition in Parliament to effectively represent the voice of the common people on the parliamentary floor.
Transparency and accountability in public service were key messages emphasised by Kyagulanyi.
