In an electrifying round of 16 clash at the USSSA National tournament in Ngora District, Mentor Secondary School etched their name into history by advancing to the Quarter Finals for the very first time. The tightly contested match saw Mentor SS edge out Jinja Comprehensive School 1-0, thanks to a decisive first-half strike from Gabriel Oyuru.

The solitary goal was enough to secure victory and send waves of excitement through the Mentor SS camp. Under the expert guidance of coach Ronald Okello, the team has defied expectations and is now just one step away from qualifying for the prestigious Federation of East Africa Secondary School Sports Associations (FEASSSA) Games, which brings together top secondary school teams from across East Africa and for this year will take place in Tanzania.

In another notable upset, Buddo SS eliminated Wisdom High School 3-1, further shaking up the tournament landscape, ending the FEASSSA qualification dreams for the Kole District based side who has been representing USSSA Lango Zone. However, the Lango Zone’s hopes now rest solely on Mentor SS, who continue to proudly represent their region with determination and skill.

Looking ahead, Mentor SS will face a formidable opponent in Jinja Progressive Academy (JIPRA) in the Quarter Finals.
