Political aspirants in Dokolo North have been called upon to lead issue-based campaigns as the 2026 general elections draw nearer.

During a strategic meeting held on Monday in Agwata Town Council, Fr. Alfred Junior Okello, a Catholic priest and parliamentary hopeful, emphasized the need for politicians to present their manifestos instead of using bribes to lure voters.

The gathering brought together coordinators from all sub-counties in the constituency and focused on fostering integrity in the election process.

Fr. Okello urged voters to support leaders with clear development agendas, particularly in agriculture, health, education, and infrastructure. He noted his previous work repairing 78 boreholes in Dokolo North at a cost of 68 million shillings as a demonstration of his commitment to service.

Leaders like Josephine Agweng of Okwalongwen and Nelson Odongo of Amwoma voiced concerns about vote-buying, which they said undermines democratic governance.

They pledged to mobilize support through door-to-door campaigns for candidates offering real change.

Betty Atoo, former District Councillor for Amwoma, urged reconciliation from previous election disputes and described Fr. Okello as a powerful and energetic leader capable of transforming the community.

Fr. Okello concluded by reiterating that his leadership would be grounded in peace, unity, and service—calling on voters to trust him with the mandate to lead.
