Dokolo District Production Officer Urges Farmers to Be Cautious When Purchasing Seeds

Dokolo District Production Officer, Dr. Richard Enyang, has advised farmers to exercise caution when purchasing seeds for the upcoming first rainy season.

In a statement made on Monday during a press briefing, Dr. Enyang emphasized the importance of sourcing seeds from reliable and trusted suppliers, particularly those recommended by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics, to ensure quality and high production yields.

He warned that any seed dealers found selling counterfeit seeds would face legal action, as such products could lead to major losses for farmers by the end of the season.

Dr. Enyang also encouraged farmers to prepare their seedbeds in advance to ensure earlier harvests. He stressed the need for farmers to move away from traditional seed storage methods and instead purchase seeds from reputable sources that can guarantee quality yields.

Additionally, he urged farmers to seek advice from extension workers in various sub-counties to enhance agricultural productivity.

In his concluding remarks, Dr. Enyang recommended that farmers use a combination of organic and manufactured fertilizers to improve soil fertility and increase crop yields.
