FDC Leaders in Lira City Endorse Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng for 2026 Elections

Lira City – Leaders of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) in Lira City have officially endorsed Health Minister Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero for the position of Lira City Woman Member of Parliament in the upcoming 2026-2031 term.
The endorsement was made during a meeting on March 15, 2025, where 253 FDC leaders gathered at Dr. Aceng’s residence in Ireda, Lira City East Division. After extensive consultations, the FDC leaders concluded that Dr. Aceng represents the most progressive vision for the city and committed to mobilizing support for her candidacy.
Despite the FDC’s well-known opposition to the ruling NRM regime, the party leaders emphasized that their support for Dr. Aceng is based on her exceptional leadership and her efforts in improving health services and governance. They clarified that their endorsement does not mean they are crossing over to NRM but rather a recognition of a leader who is delivering for the people of Lira City.
Speaking after the endorsement, the FDC leaders called for a peaceful, issue-based campaign, condemning any acts of intimidation, blackmail, or threats. They urged voters in Lira City to renew Dr. Aceng’s mandate in the 2026 general elections.
The statement was signed by top FDC officials in Lira City, including General Secretary Newton Okello, Chairman Obote Denis, Lira City East Chairman Moses Etyang, Lira City West Chairman Mzee Ogwal Bonny, and Women’s League Chairperson Ms. Oroma Janet.
As the 2026 elections approach, this endorsement is expected to shape the political landscape in Lira City, where Dr. Aceng faces competition from other candidates.
