In a dramatic turn of events, the Atek Keno Clan Leaders have stepped into the political spotlight, firmly distancing themselves from serious allegations levied by Phillips Ogile Jakayo, the NRM Publicity Secretary for Oyam District, against Jane Frances Acilo, an aspirant for the Oyam Woman MP seat. The clan, known for its rich heritage and deep-rooted traditions, has made it clear that it will not be drawn into the murky waters of political disputes.

The controversy erupted when Ogile took to social media, making shocking claims that Acilo was involved in the 2018 arrest, kidnapping, and alleged murder of Ojok Julius Peter, affectionately known as Ojok Adidit. The chilling circumstances surrounding Ojok's disappearance have left many in the community unsettled, as his fate remains unknown. In response to the allegations, Acilo reported Ogile to the Oyam Central Police Station, resulting in Ogile's arrest. However, he was later released on police bond as investigations continue to unfold.

David Tile Opuna, the head of the Atek Keno Clan, addressed the media with a fiery statement, asserting that neither Ogile nor Acilo has any ties to their clan. "We refuse to be dragged into this quagmire of political machinations," Tile declared passionately, denouncing Ogile's actions as "unwarranted." He called for Ogile to retract his statements and publicly apologize to the clan, emphasizing the need for respect and integrity in their community.

Adding to the clan's defense, Anthony Alari, the Chief in charge of blood compensation, reiterated the clan's commitment to traditional procedures when addressing matters involving their members' deaths. "It is inappropriate for Ogile to meddle in our clan affairs," Alari warned, suggesting that Ogile's motivations may stem from self-serving political interests rather than genuine concern for the truth.

As tensions rise, the libel case against Ogile is currently filed under CRB 135/2025 at the Central Police Station, with Oyam's police confirming that investigations are ongoing. The outcome of this case could have significant implications not only for Ogile but also for the political landscape in Oyam District, as community members grapple with the fallout of these serious allegations.
