The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP), Maj Gen Geofrey Katsigazi Tumusiime, has issued strong warning on reckless driving within the force's drivers.

Footage from CCTV cameras have lately revealed multiple patrol vehicles involved in accidents, sparking concerns and raising questions about the adherence of patrols to safety protocols within the law enforcement community.

"Preliminary statistics show that since the year began, over 50 individuals have lost their lives in road traffic accidents," the deputy IGP said.

The rise in fatalities has underscored the urgent need for enhanced road safety measures and strict enforcement of traffic regulations.

The deputy IGP noted that the warning follows the emergence of alarming footage from security cameras in different parts of the country.

In response to these challenges, the police have now launched a community engagement initiative urging the public to report any suspicious activities within communities.

"We encourage citizens to remain vigilant and report any behaviors or individuals that may pose a threat to public safety," Maj Gen Katsigazi said.

As the police intensify efforts to curb road accidents and enhance community security, Maj Gen Katsigazi underscored the importance of responsible driving and community vigilance.

This development marks a pivotal moment as law enforcement takes decisive steps to ensure the safety of both officers and the public, with the deputy IGP's warning resonating as a clear call for accountability within the police force.
