It is a dark day Masindi District following the tragic death of Dr. Jino Abiriga, who had been serving as the acting district health officer (DHO). Dr. Abiriga, also an obstetrician at Masindi Hospital, was discovered dead in a neighbor’s compound in Kijura North, Central Division, Masindi Municipality, with injuries to his neck and abdomen.

Dr. Abiriga, also an obstetrician at Masindi Hospital, was discovered dead in a neighbor’s compound in Kijura North, Central Division, Masindi Municipality, with injuries to his neck and abdomen.
The distressing incident came to light when the deceased’s wife found his lifeless body in the neighbor’s compound around 6:00 am on Sunday. Sources reveal that Dr. Abiriga had received a midnight call to attend to a patient, but he never returned home. Eyewitnesses speculate that he may have been murdered elsewhere, with the body later dumped in the neighbor’s compound.
The unexpected death has left the community in shock, as many had recently seen Dr. Abiriga at a wedding party in Kisengya Cell, Nyangahya Division Masindi Municipality on January 6, 2024.
