On Monday, March 6th, members of Parliament from Lango Sub Region gathered at Parliament to conduct the election of new office-bearers under their umbrella Lango Parliamentary Group(LPG).

Kole Woman MP Judith Alyek(NRM) retained her position as Chairperson of the group. Hon Dr Samuel Opio Acuti (Kole North), Hon Julius Acon(Otuke) and Hon Agnes Linda Auma (Lira district WMP) kept their positions as Secretary General, Treasurer and Publicity Secretary respectively.

Kyoga county MP Hon. Moses Okot Bitek Jr. who was the vice chairperson in the previous leadership is the only one who was replaced from Executive positions in the LPG. Hon. Eng Nelson Okello Lemba MP for Maruzi is his successor.

Initially nominated for the position of chairmanship of the LPG by Mororto County MP Samuel Okwir Odwee, Bitek declined the nomination and was not present during the election exercise conducted under the leadership of the LPG Electoral Commissioner Hon. Moses Ogwal Goli (MP Dokolo North).

Asked why he did not participate in the exercise, the outspoken FDC MP who is also the Legal secretary of the FDC said "LPG has become a puppet of the ruling party and president Museveni, full of cowardice....".

He said he won't be appeasing the powers and won't be compromised. "I'm better than a boot licker....", he added.

He thanked the people of Lango for supporting him during his three years of service.
