Party President Akena pledges full support to UPC candidates

Uganda People's Congress (UPC) Party President, Jimmy James Michael Akena, has reaffirmed his full support for party candidates as he strengthens his bid for the presidency in 2026.
Speaking to an enthusiastic crowd at Orum Primary School playground in Orum Town Council, Otuke District, Akena underscored the importance of unity and welfare in shaping Uganda’s future. He assured supporters that the UPC stands firmly behind its candidates at all levels in the upcoming 2026 elections.
"UPC is a party of the people, and our commitment to leadership is unwavering. We will fully support our candidates to ensure victory at all levels", Akena emphasized.
Akena emphasized that party structures must work cohesively to guarantee success. He also acknowledged the economic hardships faced by citizens and pledged to prioritize welfare programs aimed at improving livelihoods.
"We cannot build a strong nation if our people are struggling to access basic needs. My leadership will focus on enhancing social services through sustainable development", said Akena.
Highlighting key areas such as education, healthcare, and economic empowerment, Akena called on supporters to rally behind his vision for Uganda.
During his address, he also launched a new UPC party office in Orum Town Council, Otuke District, which is expected to serve as a coordination center for mobilization and recruitment.
With the 2026 elections fast approaching, Akena urged supporters to register in the UPC register and actively participate in all party activities.
