The Northern Regional League 2024/25 Season Set to Kick Off

The Northern Regional League is gearing up for an exciting start to the 2024/25 season, set to kick off this Saturday, October 26th, 2024. Football enthusiasts and supporters are eagerly awaiting the action-packed matches that are scheduled to take place on the opening day.

This season, the league welcomes some new faces as Young Elephant Academy, Kilak Young S.P, Stallion City FC, Akalo Express FC, Tiger FC, and Kidilani SW are poised to make their debut in the third-tier league. These teams are expected to bring a fresh dynamic to the competition and showcase their talent on the field.

Reflecting on the previous season, Pajule Lions and Northern Gateway SC stood out as the group table leaders in the Elephant group and Rhino group, respectively. Northern Gateway SC emerged as the champions of the 2023/24 Northern Regional League after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Pajule Lions at Anaka Playground in Nwoya District. However, their journey towards promotion to the FUFA Big League was cut short as they fell 2-0 on aggregate against the West Nile Region champions, Paidha Black Angels, in the playoffs.

One team that experienced the highs and lows of competition last season was Young Elephant FC, who after a stint in the FUFA Big League, found themselves relegated back to the Northern Regional League. Following their relegation, the club management made the decision to put the club up for sale, signaling a new chapter for the team.
