Rev. Sam Omiat Urges Journalists to Uphold Ethics and Professionalism

Rev. Sam Omiat, Executive Director of Adwoki Technical School, has called on journalists in Dokolo district to prioritize ethical conduct and professionalism in their work. Speaking during a meeting with the Dokolo Journalist Development Association, Omiat stressed the importance of responsible journalism that contributes positively to the community and does not promote insecurity or misinformation.

He encouraged journalists to save through their SACCOS to improve their financial stability and household income. Omiat also warned against behaviors such as biased reporting, excessive drinking, and inciting violence, urging the press to maintain high moral standards.

Stephen Opio, chairperson of the Dokolo Journalist Development Association, highlighted the group’s efforts to enhance journalistic professionalism and social welfare, including income-generating activities like savings, poultry farming, and agriculture.

The association, which was established in 2020, currently has 27 fully registered members, and aims to advocate for journalists' rights and improve their livelihoods.
