Auma Okao Fires Up UPC Base in Amolatar, Calls for Unity in Development

Amolatar – Janet Auma Okao, an aspirant for the Woman Member of Parliament seat in Amolatar District, has called on Uganda People's Congress (UPC) supporters across the district and the country at large to stand firmly behind the party, emphasizing its legacy of delivery and commitment to the people.
Speaking during a consultative rally with UPC delegates from Etam Sub-county, Auma Okao praised the party’s founder, Dr. Apollo Milton Obote, whom she described as a “divine blessing” to the people of Lango.
Drawing symbolic comparisons, she likened the Lango community especially those in Amolatar to the Israelites, highlighting their natural endowments, including what she referred to as the “mighty God-given fish” that sustain livelihoods.
“UPC is not a party that disappoints. It’s a unifying force in our politics; a father figure that has created space for its members to contribute across the political spectrum, whether in FDC, NRM, or NUP", Auma Okao stated.
She, however, emphasized the need for unity when it comes to national development.
“When it comes to uplifting our communities, we must come together as one,” she urged.
The race for the Amolatar District Woman MP seat is heating up, with four women vying for the position.
The political landscape shifted following the withdrawal of Nam Eve Tyan, the previous UPC flag bearer.
Now, Janet Auma Okao and Lilian Winny Atala are preparing to battle it out in the UPC primaries. Meanwhile, incumbent MP Dr. Agnes Atim Apea will face Hon. Dorcus Akome in the NRM primaries.
As the political season gather momentum, eyes remain fixed on the outcome of these party primaries that will shape the next chapter of leadership in Amolatar.
