Kumam Cultural Leader Calls for Unity Ahead of 2026 General Elections

His Highness Rapheal Otaya of the Kumam Cultural Heritage, has called for cooperation, unity, and togetherness among politicians contesting in the upcoming 2026/2031 General Elections.

He made the remarks on Saturday 12 during the burial ceremony of the late Derry Erupu in Atapar Village, Lwala Parish, Otuboi Sub-county, Kalaki District.

His Highness Otaya urged political aspirants from all parties to uphold integrity, foster peaceful coexistence, and avoid discrimination, divisiveness, and segregation during the election period.

Samuel Eyenga, the Prime Minister of the Kumam Cultural Heritage, also appealed to politicians in the Kumam region to speak the truth and promote love and unity among the Kumam people without engaging in propaganda or conflict that could divide their culture.

Kenneth Ongalo Obote, the Member of Parliament for Kalaki County and Minister of State for Teso Affairs, expressed confidence in his capability to continue leading Kalaki District and pledged to carry on with the responsibility for another five-year term.

Capt. Dr. Mike Mukula, the National Vice Chairperson of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) for the Eastern Region, appealed to the people of Teso and Kumam sub-regions to give their full support to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the 2026/2031 elections, citing the importance of maintaining peace and promoting socio-economic development.
