Dokolo MP Aspirants Call for Peace, Unity Ahead of 2026 Elections

Dokolo parliamentary aspirants have expressed their readiness for the upcoming 2026 general elections, calling for peace, unity, and togetherness during the electoral process.
Their remarks came on Monday afternoon during the burial of Imat Keren Ebwony at Atama Cell, Western Ward, Dokolo Town Council, Dokolo District.
Dr. Lalam Anna Grace Atine, a woman MP aspirant for Dokolo District, urged politicians to embrace peaceful elections and avoid tribalism, segregation, and divisions.
She called on voters to support her in both the upcoming primary and general elections.
"I encourage all politicians to uphold peace and unity during this election period to prevent insecurity," Dr. Lalam stated.
She also appealed to men to support their wives in participating in politics, emphasizing that women have proven to be effective leaders who bring services closer to the people.
However, she encouraged women to respect their partners to maintain harmony in their families.
Vincent Opito, an aspirant for Dokolo South Constituency, reiterated his commitment to leading the area, pledging to promote unity and socio-economic development. He called for cooperation among community members to ensure peaceful elections.
Similarly, Andrew Awany, another contestant for the Dokolo South MP seat, expressed his vision of bringing more development projects to the constituency.
He promised to strengthen service delivery and improve livelihoods through his leadership.
Joel Opota Okuma, the District Speaker of Dokolo, speaking on behalf of LCV Chairperson James Otoo Apili, praised the late Imat Keren Ebwony for her legacy of kindness and unity.
He also announced his intention to contest as LCV District Councilor for Dokolo Town Council in the next five years.
Jimmy Emmanuel Ecumu, the Vice Chairperson of LCIII Dokolo Town Council, encouraged mourners to leave behind good legacies for future generations.
Meanwhile, Rev. Capt. Julious Otuke, the Archdeacon of Dokolo Urban Archdeaconry, warned Christians against following fake pastors and engaging in vices such as excessive alcohol consumption, adultery, and theft, emphasizing that such behaviors could negatively impact future generations.
