Jane Frances Acilo Empowers Oyam’s Brightest: Six Students Sponsored for Term Two by Her Foundation

Oyam District, Uganda — In a heartfelt ceremony marked by hope and determination, Jane Frances Acilo, the Woman Member of Parliament candidate for Oyam District, has officially sent off six promising students embarking on their Term Two studies. This milestone is made possible by the Jane Acilo Foundation, which fully sponsors these talented youths from Senior One through Senior Six, ensuring their educational journey is uninterrupted.
Launched earlier this year in Term One, the foundation’s program initially targeted the top two Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) performers from government schools. This year’s beneficiaries include those top achievers—a boy and a girl—plus four other outstanding students who have shown exceptional academic promise despite facing financial hardships. The group comprises four girls and two boys hailing from various subcounties across Oyam District.
To safeguard their privacy and security, the foundation has kept the names of the schools they will attend in Kampala confidential. For Term Two alone, the foundation has invested UGX 10 million, covering tuition, boarding, and educational supplies.
Jane Frances Acilo expressed her personal commitment to the cause, stating, “I’ve walked the same path many of these children are on. I understand what it means to have big dreams but limited resources. That’s why we support them through every term, every test, and every challenge.”
The initiative is not just a scholarship program but a cornerstone of Acilo’s broader vision for equitable education access and sustainable community transformation in Oyam District. By investing in these students, the foundation aims to nurture future leaders who will uplift their communities.
Looking ahead, the foundation plans to welcome a new cohort of students next year, bolstered by increased support from development partners and generous well-wishers eager to expand the program’s reach and impact.
As the six students embark on their academic journey, their stories stand as a beacon of hope and a testament to the power of community-driven support.
