Denis Hamson Obua, the Government Chief Whip has commended the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) upon their remarkable transformation and vital role in ensuring peace and security across the country.
Obua made the remarks while addressing a gathering at the Senior Command and Staff College (SCSC) in Kimaka, Jinja on Saturday, January 6, 2024. He was representing Lukia Isanga Nakadama, the Third Deputy Prime Minister and Minister without Portfolio.
Obua lauded the UPDF for evolving into an all-encompassing force, actively contributing to national development in various aspects but most especially recognizing the leadership, including the President of Uganda and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, for fostering the UPDF’s growth based on the six principles of duty, integrity, ethics, honour, courage, and loyalty.
In a message conveyed through Obua, Minister Lukia Isanga Nakadama emphasized the significance of the cultural gala hosted under the theme: “Harnessing African Unity and Security through Promotion of our Rich Cultural Diversity for a Common Destiny.” Nakadama underscored that the training provided at the SCSC would equip senior officers with essential skills to serve humanity.
The cultural gala, with its focus on African unity and security, is designed to empower senior officers with a deeper understanding of cultural dynamics by leveraging cultural similarities and diversities. The UPDF aims to enhance its capabilities in executing security measures and preserving the well-being of the population.
