FUFA Unveils The MTN-FUFA Awards 2024: A Night to Celebrate Football Heroes and Inspire Future Stars

Kampala, Uganda – Friday, April 25, 2025. In a grand ceremony held today at the prestigious Serena Hotel, the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), in partnership with MTN, Nivana, Nile Special, and Kibo Media Limited, officially launched the much-anticipated MTN-FUFA Awards 2024. The event was themed “Celebrating Football Heroes, Inspiring Future Stars,” setting the tone for what promises to be an electrifying celebration of Uganda’s football talent.
The MTN-FUFA Awards, which have been a celebrated tradition in Ugandan football, are set to return on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the iconic Kampala Serena Hotel. This marks the first edition of the awards since 2021, when Bobosi Byaruhanga and Fauzia Najjemba took home the coveted titles of Male and Female Best Footballer of the Year, respectively.

Speaking at the unveiling, Awards Committee Chairman expressed immense pride in the partnership that has brought the awards back to life. “The MTN-FUFA Awards are more than just accolades; they are a platform to honor the dedication, skill, and passion of our footballers. This year’s theme reflects our commitment to not only celebrate current heroes but also to inspire the next generation of stars,” Rogers Byamukama said.

In an interview, MTN Uganda’s representative highlighted the telecommunications giant’s continued support for football development in the country. “MTN is proud to be part of this journey, supporting the growth of football at all levels. The MTN-FUFA Awards provide a unique opportunity to recognize excellence and motivate young talents across Uganda,” she stated.
The launch event also featured a star-studded guest list, including former football legends, coaches, and media personalities, all united in their enthusiasm for Ugandan football.
This year’s awards will honor outstanding performances across 16 various categories, including Best Male and Female Footballer, Best Coach, Best Young Talent, and more.
