The FDC on Wednesday 14 unveiled Dr. Olwoc Rosemary Ogwal as
the FDC party candidate for the Dokolo woman MP By-election.
While there were members of the party who expressed interest in contesting, the decision to support Dr. Olwoc follows discussions between the party leadership, the family of the late Hon. Cecilia Atim Ogwal, and FDC members in Dokolo. Instead of holding primary elections, the party reached a consensus among its members.

The position fell vacant following the demise of Cecilia Ogwal on January 18 2024, after a short illness.
Up to 13 other women have shown interest to represent the district in the 11th Parliament of Uganda.
On Monday February 12 the Electoral Commission Chairman Justice Simon Byabakama unveiled the election roadmap in Dokolo. Nominations are set for 11th-12th March, with campaigns kicking off on March 13 to 19. Voting is slated for March 21.
