Lira City Probe Investigation following Friday Fatal Incident

Shockwaves storm Lira city community members following the cold blood murder by cutting of a 32 year old George Aliro on Friday, November 8, 2024.
This tragic event evolves around the allegation of extramarital affairs and jealousy.
The Incident: A Fatal Confrontation
On the night of November 8, 2024, Aliro George Aliro, a 32-year-old butcher and à resident of Kakoge "A" cell, Ojwina "C" ward, was fatally wounded in Owiti cell, Amuca ward, Lira City. The incident was accorded to police by Solomon Opeta, a medical officer and resident of Owiti cell.
Preliminary investigation cite that the incident occurred at around 12:20am.
Initial reports also suggest that Aliro had contacted Daisy Akullo who is believed to be a married woman.Upon arriving, he was confronted by her husband, Otim Bazil, a 29-year-old resident of the same area. A violent altercation ensued, culminating into Aliro George's death from stab wounds.
The Allegations: A Web of Relationships and Suspicions
The investigation is centered on the alleged extramarital affair between George Aliro and Daisy Akullo. This complex relationship, involving a married woman and an unmarried man, is believed to have been a significant contributing factor to the tragic event.
A team of police officers from Lira City West Division Police Station visited the scene, led by the Division CID Officer and other personnel such as SOCO, and Homicide team. The scene was examined and documented by the SOCO and the sketch map drown.
The body of the deceased was picked and conveyed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem which was conducted. A panga suspected to have been used to cut the deceased was recovered and exhibited as evidence.
Relevant witnesses were interviewed and statements recorded whereas the prime suspect still on run, but the wife (Akullu) and another man who claims to be the brother are in custody to support investigation.
Motivations and Potential Culprits
The motive behind the murder remains a central point of investigation. While the initial report implicates Otim Bazil, the husband of Akullo Daisy, as the perpetrator, the investigation is still ongoing.
Preliminary findings indicate that Akullu's pregnancy is alleged to be for the deceased.
"We condemn strongly act of killings which is so rampant in the region, we also advised Otim to report himself to any nearest police station to support investigation and possible charges before court of law." Said SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, PRO-North Kyoga Region.
