GULU: The Parish Chief of Labworomo Parish in Palaro sub-county, Gulu district has reportedly committed suicide.
Alex Akera Kawa aged 31 is said to have committed suicide by injecting a poisonous chemical on himself at unknown hour on Tuesday 16th April, 2024.
Odong George, the Speaker of Palaro Sub County confirmed the sad incident saying the deceased’s wife had recently complained that Akera was having an extra marital affair with a local bar owner.
Odong said that he held a mediation meeting between the couple with the deceased promising to end the extra marital affair.
However, findings indicate that the deceased resorted to ingesting himself with poison after his wife decided to return to her parent’s home on Monday with their four children.
Odong said that Akera was taken to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital where he died in the wee hours of Wednesday.
Police in Aswa River Region have blamed the increasing cases of death by suicide on domestic violence, sickness, poverty, use of drugs and court issues.
