Which School is in the Group of Death? Learn the USSSA Groups for Lira City as the Tournament Kicks Off on Friday!

Lira City, Uganda – As the excitement builds for the 2025 USSSA tournament, which kicks off this Friday, all eyes are on the groups that have been formed for the boys' and girls' categories. The Lira City USSSA committee has completed its vetting process, and the stakes are high as teams prepare to battle for a chance to qualify for the Lango Zonal meet.

The girls’ teams were screened on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, with 12 teams registering and placed into two groups, A and B. Meanwhile, the boys' category saw an impressive turnout of 18 schools, which were divided into four groups. Group A and B each feature five teams, while Groups C and D contain four teams each. The tournament could see the addition of two late entrants, who would fill out Groups C and D, making for a competitive showdown.

The Groups

Boys' Category:

Group A: Mentor SS, Nissi College, Comboni College, Premier Progressive SS, King James Comprehensive SS.

Group B: Top Star SS, Light Vocational SS, Elite SS, Lira SS, Faith SS.

Group C: Lango College, Tasha High School, Odokomit SS, Lira City Comprehensive SS.

Group D: Lira Town College, COTN, Hill City, D.O.C.

The Group of Death As the tournament approaches, the question on everyone's lips is: which group is the "Group of Death"? Many analysts could be pointing to Group A, where the defending champions, Mentor SS, will face stiff competition from Comboni College but the Silent Group of Death is Group D where all teams look to be at the same level, predicting who'll make it out of Group D is still next to impossible. With a mix of seasoned players and rising stars, this group promises to deliver some of the most thrilling matches of the tournament.

Mentor SS, who are coming off a victorious season, will open the tournament against Nissi College at 8 AM at Ireda Primary School Playground. Simultaneously, Top Star SS will challenge Light Vocational SS at Anai Primary School Playground. The intensity of these matches is expected to set the tone for the tournament, as teams look to establish themselves early on.
