RCC Egole Warns Lango War Claimants Association Leaders on Extortion

The Leadership of Lango War Claimants Association has accused Lira City’s Resident City Commissioner and some leaders from Lira for allegedly trying to frustrate their efforts regarding the compensation process in Lango.

Moses Ogwang Adonyo the Coordinator for the association said that it had reached their notice that some leaders including RCC Lawrence Emmy Egole had a meeting last week and informed the higher authority in government that Lango had already been compensated.

In December 2023, Ogwang Adonyo led a team of 630 coordinators from all districts and sub counties across Lango-sub region to meet with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni regarding; issues of their Ex -Gratia, why some names of other complaints were deleted and why the money which was released in August for Lango never reached the beneficiaries.

“After meeting with PPS to the President, Dr. Kenneth Omona on 25th, the Ministry of Finance and Attorney General's office started paying the beneficiaries on January 2 and that was an achievement regarding our journey to Rwakitura”, said Ogwang Adonyo.

Ogwang Adonyo however showed dissatisfaction on RCC Egole whom he said ordered for his arrest together with Vicky Atim for allegedly extorting money from coordinators in the name of going to Rwakitura.

“Even if he ordered for the arrest of Atim and I, nothing has happened yet because I and Vicky are always available in public but RCC Egole keeps on saying that we are the most wanted people” he added.

Meanwhile, Vicky Atim told Journalists that it is wrong for RCC Egole to call them thieves yet he has no evidence or ruling from competent Court showing that they have been convicted.

According to Vicky Atim, they may prefer filing a case of defamation against RCC for tarnishing their names yet they have been sacrificing a lot to see that Lango gets compensation for the lost cows.

Atim added.

In his response, RCC said Ogwang Adonyo and Vicky Atim should have gone to police rather than running to address the Media. Egole also cautioned the two most wanted coordinators to talk less and let police do their investigations.

According to Egole Lawrence, Police are doing investigations on the case since some people complained to police regarding money extortion by Moses Ogwang Adonyo and Vicky Atim.
