As we come to the end of the year 2023 and usher into 2024, North Kyoga police says lots of excitement is expected from members of the public.
It is upon this that SP. Jimmy Patrick Okema, North Kyoga police spokesperson has come out to caution people to remain security conscious and vigilant enough during this short period to avoid calamities.
Okema also continues to appeal to everyone across Lango sub region to be on the lookout for suspicious persons and objects that may disrupt the new year celebrations.
"Entertainment places and religious gatherings carrying out over night prayers should take note, beef up your security and work in partnership with the territorial police commanders", said Okema.
He also urged all places that have been cleared by the IGP to display fireworks to strictly adhere to the guidelines to avoid being stopped from display.
He however cautioned public to desist from burning of Christmas trees and tyres in public places and along the road, warned security personnel to desist from shooting as a way of celebrating the new year, avoid drink driving, ensuring that homes are not left unattended to and young ones should not be left alone to avoid any eventualities against them by heartless people such as defilers, rapists among others.
"It is the responsibility of all of us to ensure personal safety", Okema added.
He assured members of public about their preparedness as police to secure this period through their convert and overt deployment while conducting operations on foot and motorized means.
"Our CCTV camera and emergency call center command of 999 or 112 will be on 24/7 to monitor and receive complaints or concerns from members of the public for quick responses. Together we can fight and secure the areas we lived in", said Okema.
