MP Okot Ogong Warns Against Vandalism as Dokolo District Receives New School

Lango - Dokolo South Member of Parliament, Hon. Felix Okot Ogong, has cautioned the community surrounding Adeknino Seed Secondary School against vandalism and theft of school property, warning that such actions could jeopardize the institution’s performance.
Hon. Okot Ogong made the remarks on Tuesday 4 during the official handover of Adeknino Seed Secondary School by Bygon Enterprises Limited to the Dokolo District Local Government. The event took place at the school premises in Adeknino Sub-county, Dokolo District.
The legislator emphasized that school property, provided by the Ministry of Education and Sports, is meant to support learning and must be safeguarded. He warned that anyone caught stealing or vandalizing school property would be arrested and prosecuted without compromise.
Additionally, Hon. Okot Ogong revealed that Dokolo District has received UGX 850 million for the recruitment of teachers at Adeknino Seed Secondary School, aimed at addressing the issue of inadequate teaching staff.
Regarding parental Responsibility in Education, the MP urged parents to nurture, mentor, and educate their children to change their mindset and reduce poverty and ignorance in the community.
The Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Dokolo, Ismael Masaba, applauded Hon. Okot Ogong for his unwavering commitment to improving the education system and fostering community development.
Meanwhile, the Chief Administrative Officer of Dokolo, Godfrey Ogwang Okello, also commended Bygon Enterprises Limited for completing the school construction within the stipulated timeframe.
"I encourage residents to enroll their children in nearby schools like Adeknino Seed SSS, as they are more affordable and accessible than distant, expensive institutions", said Ogwang Okello.
Similarly, the Education Officials in the district have called for community support.
Dokolo District Education Officer, David Eryatu, called upon political, technical, cultural, religious, and local leaders to mobilize parents to enroll their children at Adeknino Seed SSS.
He emphasized that the school is fully equipped with modern learning materials, including science and ICT equipment, which should be protected from theft and misuse.
Highlights Key Developments, Engineer Bosco Okello Odongo, Executive Director of Bygon Enterprises Limited, expressed gratitude to the Dokolo District Local Government for entrusting them with the school project.
He noted that the construction hosts; three classroom blocks, an administration block, a two-unit science laboratory and an ICT and library block.
