10 Alebtong District Road Construction Begin in a bid to Ease Mobility
The roads earmarked for construction include; Alebtong-Iceda-Okut-Ajuri (16 km), Abako-Ojul-Teowelo (11 km), Amugu-Ajuri swamp-Amononeno (6km), Ogowie-Baropiro-Amugu (13.4 km), and Obangangeo-Omoro-Otuke (22.5 km).

ALEBTONG - In a bid to ease mobility of locals in accessing social services and other government programmes, Alebtong district has kicked off the construction of 10 roads and four local bridges within all the sub-counties.
During the launch of the project on Thursday, May 9th, 2024, the area woman Member of Parliament, Dorcas Acen, said all the selected roads and bridges whose works are already ongoing will be completed this financial year 2023/2024.
MP Acen who is also the chairperson of Alebtong district roads committee, said five roads and two bridges whose works are underway in Ajuri County, while the rest are in Moroto County. The construction will cost Shs500 million.
MP Acen confirmed the construction of 11 community roads and four bridges in the financial year 2023/2024 adding that an achievement of 22 constructed roads and construction of several bridges will be attained in the current financial running.
The roads earmarked for construction include; Alebtong-Iceda-Okut-Ajuri (16 km), Abako-Ojul-Teowelo (11 km), Amugu-Ajuri swamp-Amononeno (6km), Ogowie-Baropiro-Amugu (13.4 km), and Obangangeo-Omoro-Otuke (22.5 km).
Meanwhile in Moroto county according to MP Acen, include; Aloi-Oloo bridge (15km), Alebtong-Awiny/Anara (11km), Alebtong Town Council-Anino station-Alela (11 km), Akura-Oteno-Abia (12km), Yatamenya-Omele-Akura (10km), and Tedwii-Orupu-Bar sub-county border (8km).
Government Chief Whip Denis Hamson Obua, also the Ajuri County Member of Parliament, called for calmness, saying the problem of appealing road status is everywhere noting that the selected roads will ensure interconnectedness in all the sub counties in the district.
According to him, their main focus is to upgrade the existing roads before embarking on opening new ones.
David Kennedy Odongo, the Alebtong LCV District Chairperson, credited the two MPs for their continuous lobbying for the district.
Odongo DK vowed to campaign for GCW Obua and MP Acen in 2026, much as he is from the opposition UPC party.
