Monday has been day a marred by somber moods as members of Parliament pay their last respects to the late Imat Hon. Barbara Cecilia Atim Ogwal, in a special session led Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Annet Anita Among.
In attendance were the vice president of Uganda H.E Jessica Alupo, Prim Minister Rt. Hon Robinah Nabanja, Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat, former vice president and speaker Edward Sekandi, former vice president Ruhakana Rugunda, Justice and Constitutional affairs minister also Democratic Party (DP) Chairman Nobert Mao among Others.
Widower Mzee Lamech Ogwal was accompanied by family members including Rosemary Ogwal, Moses Michael Ogwal, Nicholas Ogwal, Phillip Ogwal, Ogwal Joshua Ogwal, Henry Okello Ogwal, Stella Atim, Ronald Lamech Ogwal, Ronald Otwek James, and Susan Ajok, joined MPs in paying their heartfelt tributes.
Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, heading the Executive's homage to Ogwal, characterized the late individual as a wellspring of knowledge and wisdom, a figure bridging generations within Uganda's political landscape.
Speaker Among lauded her as a dedicated Member of Parliament who consistently prioritized her country.
Leader of the opposition Joel Ssenyonyi had no kind words for the country's Health systems "The demise of our respected colleague, Hon. Ogwal, along with numerous similar incidents of deaths in foreign hospitals, persistently reveals the gaps and shortcomings in Uganda's healthcare system."
Government Chief Whip, Hon. Hamison Obua, reflects on the invaluable role of elders in society, noting how Hon. Ogwal stood as a calming presence during the turbulent land issue in Lango.
