New KCCA ED Appointed
Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki as the new Executive Director for Kampala Capital City Authority.

Ms Buzeki has been the Commissioner of Human Resource Management at the Ministry of Public Service.

Meanwhile, the President has also appointed Benon Kigenyi as the new KCCA deputy executive director.

This development was confirmed on Thursday morning by Deputy Presidential Press Secretary, Faruk Kirunda.

Ms Buzeki holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and Management, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Human Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences all obtained from Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU).

She has also attended numerous skills-enhancing courses and obtained certificates in conflict management, leadership and change management, monitoring and evaluation, training of trainers and facilitation skills; among others.

Ms Buzeki was the only woman candidate on a shortlist released by the Public Service Commission (PSC) in November.

PSC, which carried out the search for the new ED on the orders of the President, ignored seasoned administrators such as Robert Kabushenga and Richard Byarugaba.

The two positions fell vacant after the President sacked Ms Kisaka and her deputy David Luyimbazi over negligence related to the collapse of Kiteezi landfill that caused the death of more than 30 people in August 2024.

The duo is still battling charges related to the landfill collapse.
