Lira, Uganda – In a thrilling showdown, Mentor Secondary School emerged victorious against Wisdom High School, clinching the USSSA Lango Zone Boys' championship with a narrow 1-0 win on Saturday, April 12, 2025. The match took place at the Ambalal Primary School Playground, where the atmosphere was electric with supporters from both schools cheering passionately for their teams.
The decisive moment came just three minutes into the game when Mentor's striker, Emmanuel Opio, showcased his aerial prowess. Following a well-executed corner kick, Opio rose above the defenders to head the ball into the net, giving Mentor an early lead that they would hold onto for the remainder of the match. This goal not only secured the victory but also marked the first defeat for Wisdom High School in the tournament, adding an extra layer of significance to the win.
